The Kern County Board of Supervisors met today as scheduled for Tuesday's September 9, 2025, Board Meeting. Supervisor Phillip Peters (District 1), Supervisor Chris Parlier (District 2), Supervisor Jeff Flores (District 3), Supervisor David Couch (District 4), and Chairwoman Leticia Perez (District 5) were in attendance. The Board proclaimed September 9, 2025 as "California's 175th Anniversary of Statehood" in Kern County.
Item No. 9 AM session:
The Board presented a Certificate of Recognition honoring Vintage Cutz Barber Shop for their contributions to the youth of Kern County, providing haircuts, school supplies and food during their 5th Annual East Bakersfield Back to School Event.

Item No. 14 AM session:
The Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Central California Animal Disaster Team (CCADT) to assist with emergency animal sheltering and response services during disasters, effective September 9, 2025.
Item No. 31 AM session:
The Board approved and adopted a resolution authorizing extended temporary closure of the Arvin Branch Library facility from Tuesday, September 30, 2025 through Monday, November 17, 2025, for life safety and critical maintenance improvements and reopening to the public on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
Item No. 32 AM session:
The Board approved and adopted a resolution authorizing temporary closure of the Ridgecrest Branch Library facility from Tuesday, November 4, 2025 through Monday, January 19, 2026, for life-safety and critical maintenance improvements.
Item No. 33 AM session:
The Board approved and adopted a Resolution authorizing extended temporary closure of the Wasco Branch Library facility from Monday, November 3, 2025 through Saturday, January 10, 2026, for life safety and critical maintenance improvements and reopening to the public on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Item No. 35 AM session:
The Board approved an agreement with The Open Door Network to provide shelter, education, counseling, and support services for families experiencing domestic violence from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Item No. 43 AM session:
The Board approved an Agreement with Clinica Sierra Vista for Hepatitis C Virus prevention, testing, linkage to, and retention in care services to high-risk populations from September 9, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Item No. 44 AM session:
The Board approved an Agreement with Clinica Sierra Vista for sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention, testing, linkage to, and coordination of care services to high-risk populations from September 9, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
Item No. 45 AM session:
The Board approved a Grant Agreement with State of California Office of Traffic Safety for Child Passenger Safety Program from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
Item No. 47 AM session:
The Board introduced a proposed Ordinance adding Chapter 9.48 to Title 9 of the Kern County Ordinance Code relating to unlawful possession and transportation of commercial grade copper and aluminum wire.
The proposed Ordinance will create a criminal or administrative penalty for the unlawful possession and transportation of commercial grade copper and aluminum wire in the unincorporated portions of Kern County. The proposed Ordinance will be considered for enactment by the Board at the September 23, 2025, board meeting.
Item No. 50 AM session:
The Board approved an Agreement with Flock Group Inc., containing non-standard terms and conditions with Flock Group Inc., to purchase fifteen fixed automated license plate reader camera systems placed throughout the boundaries of the Renewable Energy Neighborhood Enhancement Wind Business Investment Zone (RenewBiz) of Kern County.
Items No. 19 - 21 PM session:
The Board approved contributions to Public Safety Professionals Retreat to support first responders; Bakersfield Firefighters Historical Society to support educational initiatives; Kern Fire Safe Council for educational programs; Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Education Foundation to support Energy and Agriculture education; Kern County Firefighters Muster Association to help fund training and essential equipment; Valley Baptist Church to support food distribution; Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County to support programs and services; Soroptimist International of Delano to support annual fundraising event for scholarships and community programs, and Delano Chamber of Commerce for the State of the City event.
The next Regular Board Meetings are scheduled for September 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
