RiverStone Health has launched Welcome Baby, a free program offering support to all new parents in Yellowstone County.
Welcome Baby matches families with a trained Community Health Worker (CHW), who provides tailored resources, parent education and support to address each family's specific needs. The CHWs are based at Billings Clinic, Young Families Early Head Start, and Family Tree Nurturing Center, creating a community-wide approach to bridge the gap between parents or guardians and local resources.
"Bringing a newborn baby home is no easy task," said Ellie Lanz, early intervention services coordinator at RiverStone Health. "We want to ensure the long-term success of Yellowstone County families by providing personalized peer-to-peer support. These types of visits can help build positive parenting techniques and result in a stronger parent-child relationship."
Visits with a CHW can happen in the home or community setting wherever families feel most comfortable. Visits can cover education on feeding and safe sleep, connection to community resources and mental health support.
Welcome Baby is a pilot program offered to all new parents in Yellowstone County, regardless of income, in partnership with Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.
