8th Street Corridor Improvements: Closures along 8th Street in early June

Starting today, southbound 8th Street between Costilla Street and Lower Gold Camp Road will be reduced to one through lane, with traffic shifted into the center turn lane. Westbound Moreno Avenue at South 8th Street will be closed during this time. Eastbound Moreno Avenue will remain open. These traffic changes are expected to remain in place for approximately two weeks while crews perform utility work.

During this temporary closure:

• Mountain Metropolitan Transit Bus Stop 403 at South 8th Street and Moreno Avenue is temporarily closed.
• Trucks accessing Lower Gold Camp Road are encouraged to use 21st Street to avoid turning restrictions associated with the work zone.

South of this work area, the existing center lane closure at Motor City Drive remains in place for installation of a new water main. Left turns at the intersection remain restricted, and signed detours are in place.

Access to local businesses remains open and clearly marked at all times. Motorists should plan for extra travel time, slow down and use caution in work zones.
