CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. - The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is temporarily closing a section of Flatwoods Road on the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area (NCWMA) due to repair work on a washed-out culvert located at the Thirteen Hollow trailhead.
In addition to the road damage, TWRA responded this morning to an accident involving a side-by-side off-highway vehicle (OHV) at the Flatwoods Road location. The OHV's operator did not see the washed-out culvert and drove into the damaged area, injuring one occupant who was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
TWRA is urging all OHV riders on NCWMA to exercise extreme caution, as ongoing rainfall has washed out sections of trails in other areas as well.
The closure of the section of Flatwoods Road is necessary to ensure public safety and allow crews adequate space to complete repairs. Work is already underway, and the road will reopen as soon as conditions allow.
Visitors planning trips to the NCWMA should be aware of the closure and adjust travel routes accordingly. All other roads and access points in the area remain open at this time.
TWRA will announce when work is complete and the area is reopened to visitors. For additional information or to report other damaged trails or roads, please contact the NCWMA office at 423-566-8557.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is responsible for protecting, managing, and conserving fish and wildlife species for the benefit of Tennesseans and visitors. The Agency also maintains public safety through law enforcement and safety education on waterways.
