ABA Statement on Regulatory Proposals Refocusing Bank Supervision on Fundamental Financial Risks

"For too long, bank supervision has shifted away from focusing on the most important factors affecting safety and soundness - a shift that has had negative consequences for banks, their customers and the broader economy. That is finally beginning to change thanks to new leadership at the regulatory agencies. We welcome these recent efforts including today's proposed rulemakings and look forward to reviewing them with our members while continuing our engagement with regulators to ensure that bank supervision is appropriately tailored and focused on strengthening America's banks and our financial system."
