For Immediate Release
July 1, 2026
The City of Madison wishes everyone a very happy and safe Fourth of July. We'd also like to remind you that any firework that shoots into the air, has a fuse, or explodes is not allowed in Madison.
This is a longstanding public safety policy and ultimately about respecting your neighbors. The only legal products allowed in Madison are sparklers, snaps, caps, and snakes - which happen to be way more fun than illegal fireworks.
Please don't bring any type of firework, including sparklers, to City parks. While we are going over the rules, alcohol is allowed in most City parks, but not all. It's a good idea to check ahead of time if you plan on celebrating at a City park this weekend.
And it's not like there won't be fireworks! There will be lots of opportunities to see professional displays this Fourth of July weekend.
It's all our responsibility to keep our community safe and not burn down the whole town.
Happy Fourth!
