The latest episode of The University of Toledo's podcast, "Powering UToledo" is now available.
In this episode, UToledo Interim President Matt Schroeder and award-winning TV and media host Kristi K. Hoffman discuss the past academic year, reflecting on Schroeder's experiences and the University's achievements during this time. They delve into the cultural and structural shifts occurring within UToledo, the challenges and rewards of leading a complex institution and the strategic initiatives undertaken to align academics and healthcare systems for future success.
Schroeder gives consideration to the importance of community and stakeholder buy-in and the continued pursuit of innovation and excellence to position UToledo for long-term growth. The conversation underscores the University's commitment to empowering its people and enhancing the educational, social and healthcare outcomes for the region.
"Probably the most rewarding and most surprising takeaway from this journey that we've been on is how quickly we've been able to reposition the University in the eyes of some of the most skeptical people that I've ever come across in my life," he said. "I say that as a compliment because that's what faculty, especially researchers, are trained to do, is to be skeptical.
"And to question and to have that support and momentum which is even more important than support - but that momentum at this point in our history, you cannot buy that. You cannot ask for that. It just happened organically."
The "Powering UToledo" podcast highlights the University's significant contributions in research, education and healthcare and provides an inside look into the institution's innovation projects and future priorities.
