WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) gave this statement after voting NO on S. 1318, the three-year extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) that outlines how U.S. intelligence agencies collect and search records on communications of foreign agents or suspected terrorists outside the United States:
"While I have supported FISA in the past, I cannot in good faith support this reauthorization now because of this administration's track record of violating the civil liberties of U.S. citizens, especially when it comes to federal agencies illegally invading the privacy of Americans.
"I cannot support a bill that allows the government to spy on Americans without a judicial warrant."
