McDuffie County: Shift to roundabout configuration scheduled

[Link]
Thomson, Ga. - The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) and its construction contractor, E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., are preparing to shift traffic at State Route 17 and the Thomson Bypass to a roundabout configuration on Monday, October 27. The existing all-way stop will be removed.

Traffic is being shifted to its permanent alignment. However, drivers are advised to continue driving with caution, as work will continue at this location into 2026. Shifting traffic to this alignment will allow the contractor to construct the roundabout's center island. Project completion is currently estimated for spring 2026.

Advisory: Schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Drivers are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through the work zone, stay alert, and watch for workers. Before heading out, get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
