City of Boulder Fire-Rescue Sending a Type 3 Engine and Four Firefighters to California

Boulder Fire-Rescue has received a resource request to assist with the fires in southern California. Boulder Fire-Rescue is sending a Type 3 engine with four firefighters as part of a strike team of engines from Colorado.

Over the coming days, five engines and crew members from different Front Range departments will be driving to California to bolster response efforts. Upon arrival, there is the potential for the engines to spend up to two weeks helping with fire suppression and any other needs determined by the incident.

With our crew, Boulder Fire-Rescue sends our sympathies for the loss of life and the loss of property that has already occurred because of the fires. We hope all firefighters and first responders stay safe throughout this critical time.

A reminder to our Boulder community: windy season is wildfire season! We all share the responsibility of creating a more wildfire resilient community here in Boulder.

Become more wildfire resilient today by doing the following:

  1. Sign up for emergency alerts at boulderodm.gov or by texting BoCoInfo to 888777.
  2. Clear an area of at least five feet around your home/structures of all debris like leaves, pine needles, wood, etc.
  3. Recreate responsibly! Open burning, including fire pits and bonfires are illegal in the City of Boulder year round.
