Hill Country Flood Response Aftermath and Resources

With rain continuing to fall and water levels remaining a serious concern, I encourage everyone across Central Texas to stay alert, exercise caution, and heed the guidance of local officials. Some areas of the Hill Country have received more than 27 inches of rain in just over a day, creating life-threatening flooding.

Amid these dangerous conditions, our Hill Country community witnessed the extraordinary courage and professionalism of our first responders. I want to thank the local, state, and federal personnel who have worked tirelessly to protect lives. Over the past two days, more than 200 rescues have been conducted as these men and women responded around the clock to help those in harm's way.

Please also join me in praying for the families of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives, and that there are no further fatalities as this event continues to unfold.

The effects of this flooding have been felt across communities throughout the Hill Country. My office remains in close coordination with emergency management officials and recovery teams to help ensure resources are available and communities receive the support they need.

As conditions improve, our focus will shift from emergency response to recovery and rebuilding. I have every confidence that the people of the Hill Country will once again come together to support their neighbors, honor those we have lost, and rebuild stronger than before.
