Homicide – Arrest: C25-71822

On April 6, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., a 31-year-old male suspect attended the Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters at 245 Smith Street to turn himself in on an unrelated warrant for arrest. During the intake process, new information emerged that prompted an investigation at a hotel in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue.

Officers from the Central District located a deceased adult female at the above location. The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Tara WALKER, a member of the Chemawawin Cree First Nation.

The Homicide Unit took over the investigation and determined that the deceased and the accused were known to one another. An altercation occurred in a hotel room in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue, which resulted in a homicide.

Andrew James SINCLAIR, 31 yrs of Easterville, Manitoba has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
