First Permit Issued To The Boring Company To Begin Work To Bring the Vegas Loop to Downtown Las Vegas

First Stage To Connect Las Vegas Convention Center To Downtown

The city of Las Vegas has issued the first permit to The Boring Company to begin construction of a new transportation tunnel connecting the Vegas Loop from the Las Vegas Convention Center to downtown Las Vegas. The first Vegas Loop station in the city will be located just north of The Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower.

"The city is excited to bring an innovative transportation option to downtown Las Vegas and create another way for visitors to experience all that the city has to offer," Mayor Shelley Berkley said. "Convention-goers will soon be able to hop in a car to quickly and conveniently travel to downtown for dinner, cocktails, a visit to a museum or to catch a show at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts."

This first permit is significant as it will allow for a direct link from the Las Vegas Convention Center campus to The Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower. The Boring Company has indicated that over time it intends to expand the underground network to connect multiple stops in downtown, the Las Vegas Strip and the airport.

"We are always looking for ways to relieve traffic congestion and make it easier for residents and visitors to visit downtown," Councilwoman Olivia Diaz said. "The Vegas Loop will bring new visitors to experience the 18B Las Vegas Arts District, one of the city's most popular and vibrant neighborhoods."
