Escambia County Monitoring Tropical Activity in the Gulf

Escambia County is actively monitoring a trough of low pressure near northern Florida that is producing rain showers and thunderstorms. Over the next two to three days, Escambia County should expect increased rain chances and increased surf and rip currents along coastal areas.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the system is expected to move west-southwestward into the north-central portion of the Gulf. Development of this system remains low. While this system is not expected to become a named storm, residents are reminded to remain weather aware.

The next named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season is Dexter.

To report storm damage such as downed trees in the roadway outside of normal business hours, contact Escambia County Public Works at 850-937-2100. <_o3a_p>

Citizens should dial 9-1-1 for all other emergencies. If unsure whether the situation is a true emergency, officials recommend calling 9-1-1 and consulting with the dispatcher to determine if emergency help is needed.<_o3a_p>
