Tempe This Week Aug. 4, 2026
Twenty-one Tempe high school students spent their summer break gaining hands-on work experience and exploring careers through the Career Ready Tempe program, which pairs students with local businesses for a six week paid internship.
Students held internships in fields as varied as marketing and media, engineering, retail, hospitality, higher education and municipal government. From working behind the scenes at a printing business to creating social media content to exploring the aerospace industry, interns came away with real-world experience. Some of the students were lucky enough to land jobs following their internships.
In all, 20 Tempe businesses and nonprofits served as host sites. Student and business applications for next year's program will open in January 2027.
