CANYONVILLE - Staffing challenges at Oregon DMV are causing the Canyonville office to further reduce service hours. Starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, the office at 241 NE Main St. will be open on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a midday closure from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The office was previously open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last month, the Canyonville office reduced from three days a week to one.

The Canyonville office currently has no full-time staff and is being served by employees from other DMV offices in the region. The reduced hour will account for the time relief staff need to travel to and from Canyonville.

The Canyonville DMV no longer offers Class C drive tests. Drive tests are offered by appointment at the Roseburg DMV and by third-party testers.

Oregon DMV is already severely understaffed. We've employed roughly the same number of people for the last 25 years, as determined by the legislature. In that same time, Oregon's population has grown by over 800,000, or nearly 25%. Even if all positions were filled, there are not enough employees to cover what is needed at DMV offices.

Before visiting a DMV office, check whether you can complete your service online at DMV2U, which offers over 30 common transactions 24 hours a day. You can also renew or replace your registration and stickers at a self-serve DMV Express Kiosk in select Fred Meyer stores around the state. These self-service options can save you a trip to a DMV office and help preserve in-person service for transactions that must be completed at an office.
