City Life Committee to discuss future of performing arts venues

The City Life Committee, chaired by Councilor Elana Pirtle-Guiney, will discuss the current state and future of performing arts venues in Portland at a July 28 meeting.

The Committee will hear a presentation that will include an overview of the City's portfolio of publicly owned performance venues (Portland'5 Centers for the Arts), highlights from the recent Future of Large-Scale Performing Arts market feasibility study, and an update on the work and progress of the independent advisory groups charged with evaluating the future of Portland's large-scale venues advisory.

Following the presentation, the committee will consider Mayor Keith Wilson's Resolution to "Accept the Future of Large-Scale Performing Arts recommendations to advance a new Broadway-capable venue as part of the proposed Performing Arts + Culture Center at Portland State University, and initiate planning for the future of the Keller Auditorium." The resolution is based on recommendations from a working group on this topic, which met four times between January and June 2026.
