The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners convened a special meeting on September 24, 2024 to declare a Local State of Emergency in anticipation of Tropical Storm Helene.
The National Hurricane Center expects Tropical Storm Helene to quickly intensify into a hurricane by the time it makes landfall somewhere along the Florida Gulf Coast and Sumter County may be impacted by tropical force winds and localized flooding.
