Located within the historic Television City Studios at 130 N. Fairfax Avenue, just steps from The Grove and The Original Farmers Market, Portal TVCITY introduces an elevated concept in immersive entertainment that brings together the expertise of film industry professionals, extraordinary storytelling and state-of-the-art technology. Set within a working Hollywood studio lot, the venue invites guests to step beyond the screen and into fully realized virtual worlds through large-scale, free-roaming experiences, complemented by premium pre- and post-show activations designed to extend the adventure beyond the headset. Portal TVCITY also features a visitor lounge and media lounge for industry events, showcases, interviews, and podcasts.
"We are in an evolution cycle of media and entertainment," says Pathbender Media Holdings Founding Partner Mark Dayoub. "Part of that evolution is how stories or (IP) is experienced. With Portal, you can 'step inside' the story."
"TVC has a tradition of popular TV and film and current notable productions," says Pathbender Media Holdings Founding Partner Salvy Maleki. "We saw an opportunity to produce traditional media and showcase immersive experiences at TVC. Excurio has done a great job with their LBXR pulse technology experience and their expanding international locations. Portal intersects immersive experience with a working studio to provide industry work collaborations and new engaging experiences."
Leading Portal TVCITY's inaugural programming is Horizon of Khufu, Excurio's internationally acclaimed Immersive Expedition that allows visitors to explore the Great Pyramid of Giza and uncover the mysteries of the Pharaohs. Equipped with a VR headset, guests move freely through an expansive virtual environment, venturing into the hidden chambers of the Great Pyramid, marveling at the Giza Necropolis, traveling along the Nile, and witnessing ancient Egyptian ceremonies and the final rites of Pharaoh Khufu. Developed in collaboration with Peter Der Manuelian, professor of Egyptology at Harvard University, and the Giza Project at Harvard University, the expedition combines immersive storytelling with years of archaeological research and verified historical and scientific data, offering a new way to experience one of the world's most fascinating civilizations.
Portal TVCITY will be powered by Excurio's award-winning LBXR Pulse, a proprietary large-scale virtual reality platform that is transforming how immersive experiences are created, operated and experienced. Recently named one of Fast Company's 2026 Next Big Things in Tech, LBXR Pulse addresses some of the industry's most significant technological challenges, making shared, free-roaming VR scalable and accessible to mass audiences. Capable of accommodating more than 130 participants simultaneously, the technology also enables multiple immersive productions to operate in parallel within the same physical space, giving venues the flexibility to introduce new adventures and continuously evolve their programming. Its adaptive spatial design allows the technology to operate within a wide variety of architectural environments, providing the infrastructure for a new generation of immersive entertainment destinations.
Portal TVCITY is envisioned as a flagship destination for audiences, partners, studios, creators and media in one of Los Angeles' most active entertainment corridors. The venue will showcase Excurio's LBXR Pulse technology and global distribution network, creating a new bridge between Hollywood's film and television industry and the emerging opportunities of location-based virtual reality.
By combining Pathbender's entertainment industry expertise and relationships with Excurio's advanced technology, content creation capabilities, and international distribution network, the partnership aims to open new avenues for film industry professionals, studios, and IP holders to explore the immersive entertainment sector, including opportunities to develop new IP-driven immersive productions. Looking further ahead, Pathbender envisions developing its own international network of premium immersive entertainment destinations within major film studios, bringing the concept introduced at Television City to audiences worldwide.
"The opening of Portal at Television City marks a major milestone for Excurio and our LBXR Pulse technology," says Excurio CEO and Co-Founder Fabien Barati. "We are thrilled to partner with the talented team at Pathbender Media Holdings to establish this flagship venue as a bridge between Hollywood and immersive entertainment. Together, we aim to bring iconic Hollywood IPs into the world of Immersive Expeditions, expand our content library, and leverage our global distribution network to bring extraordinary stories and beloved characters to audiences around the world."
