CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ - The County of Cape May's 2024 Maintenance Paving contract will continue with the resurfacing of a portion of Dennisville -Petersburg Road (CR 610) in the Borough of Woodbine and Townships of Dennis and Upper. Dennisville-Petersburg Road will be resurfaced beginning at the north side of the roundabout and extending north to the 1800lf north of Tuckahoe Mount Pleasant Road (CR 664). The work will consist of the milling and resurfacing of the roadway under a night paving operation. Work is expected to begin on Tuesday night July 29th at approximately 8:00pm and will continue through the night until approximately 6:00am the following morning. Work will continue Wednesday night, Thursday night, and Friday night. Friday night is expected to be the final night of paving.
During the paving operation, one direction of traffic will be maintained while the other direction is detoured. While the contractor resurfaces the south bound lane and shoulder of Dennisville- Petersburg Road, north bound traffic will be maintained, and south bound traffic will be detoured. On Tuesday night and Thursday night, north bound traffic will be maintained, and south bound traffic will be detoured. Traffic approaching CR 610 at the Route 50 intersection and wishing to continue south will be directed west onto Route 50. Traffic will continue along Route 50 to Tuckahoe where they will be directed west onto Route 49. Traffic will continue along Route 49 and will be directed south along CR 557 (Woodbine Road). Traffic will continue along Woodbine Road to Route 550 (Woodbine Oceanview Road) in Woodbine and will be directed east along CR 550 back to the roundabout.
On Wednesday night and Friday night, south bound traffic will be maintained, and north bound traffic will be detoured. Traffic travelling along CR 610 approaching the roundabout and wishing to continue north will be directed west onto CR 550. Traffic will continue along CR 550 west to CR 557. Traffic will then turn right on to CR 557 north and continue along CR 557 to Route 49. Traffic will turn right to Route 49 east, heading on to Route 50. Traffic will turn right onto Route 50 east and head east along Route 50 back to CR 610
Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone due to limited visibility, slow moving vehicles, and the absence of traffic striping. Stick down pavement reflectors will be installed at the end of each paving day in order to delineate the roadway centerline and will remain in place until the roadway receives permanent traffic striping.
