December 5, 2024

The 2024 Keio Challenger Tournament, known officially as the "Yokohama Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2024 supported by Mita Kosan," was held at Hiyoshi Campus's Mamushidani Tennis Courts from Sunday, November 17 through Sunday, December 1.

The men's competition is an official part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Challenger Tour. It is the sole ATP Challenger Tour hosted by a university and run by students. Through this event, many athletes who participated have gone on to compete at the professional level in the four Grand Slam tournaments and Olympic Games. Last year, the tournament underwent a name change in recognition of its main sponsor, Mita Kosan, and reached its 13th iteration this year. The women's competition, which was held in tandem with the men's tournament, is an official component of the International Tennis Federation Women's World Tennis Tour. Professional players from every region of the globe took part in both events, playing world-class, exciting matches on the Mamushidani Tennis Courts.

From the Keio University Athletic Association Tennis Club, Shogo Sanada (Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Year 2) advanced to the top 4 in the men's doubles while Remika Ohashi (Faculty of Policy Management, Year 3) and Rea Nakashima (Faculty of Policy Management, Year 3) made it to the top 4 in the women's doubles as a pair.

Throughout the tournament, students also took the lead in organizing the Junior Tennis School, tennis events for adults, and a wheelchair tennis event. The competition proved to be a valuable learning experience for students on the Keio Tennis Team, who were tasked with running the international tournament.
