Southeast Missouri State University is bringing back Horizons Summer Camps, welcoming a new generation of young explorers to campus while celebrating the 40th anniversary of a program that has sparked curiosity, creativity and discovery for children throughout southeast Missouri.
Presented in partnership with Discovery Playhouse Children's Museum, this year's program features six camps focused on space exploration, paleontology, superheroes and hands-on science adventures for children ages 6-12.
"Horizons has a rich history at SEMO," said Christy Mershon, assistant director of Continuing Education. "While the program has evolved over the years, we're proud to celebrate the 40th anniversary of a summer camp tradition that has inspired generations of young learners."
Little Horizons camps, designed for children ages 6-8, meet from 9 a.m. to noon and include:

Each camp combines hands-on activities with opportunities for creativity, problem-solving and exploration, helping young learners discover new interests while making summer learning fun and engaging.
"We're excited to bring Horizons back to campus and once again connect young learners with the people, places, and experiences that make SEMO such a special learning environment," said Mershon.
All camps are held Monday through Friday at Discovery Playhouse Children's Museum with field trips to SEMO's main campus. Registration is $135 per week and includes all supplies and a complimentary camp t-shirt for each participant.
