GFT Names Sharon Berger Transit and Rail Major Projects Group Leader

GFT has promoted Sharon Berger Esq., DBIA, CCM, ENV SP, to transit and rail major projects group leader, a North American role focused on leading large capital programs with total values above $1 billion. She will provide executive leadership across planning, design, construction, systems integration, and revenue services for complex, multi-year efforts.

Based in New York City, Berger has extensive experience with federally funded transit programs and major capital investments. She has served in senior roles on programs that move through environmental review, preliminary engineering, final design, and construction while coordinating closely with boards, funding partners, and community stakeholders. In her new position, she will serve as program executive, principal-in-charge, or senior program manager on select efforts, while also shaping GFT's approach to major project delivery across the transit and rail business.

In addition to leading key programs, Berger will mentor program and project management staff, support major pursuits, and help refine GFT's tools and processes for large, complex work. Her focus on practical governance frameworks, transparent reporting, and proactive risk management will help agencies deliver major investments while maintaining daily operations and service commitments to riders and communities.

GFT's transit and rail practice brings together planning, engineering, systems, and program delivery staff who support transit agencies, passenger rail providers, and freight partners across North America. Berger's new role centers on guiding these major initiatives so that scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality stay aligned from the first decision through opening day and beyond.
