HARRISBURG - State Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin) today announced a $30,000 grant has been awarded to the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation in Chambersburg under the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission's Keystone Historic Preservation Grant program.
"The Capitol Theatre Center Foundation continuously works to preserve the historic building, constructed in 1927. It is now a National Historic Landmark, and is a gem in our community, offering cultural events, movies and other entertainment," said Kauffman.
The funding will be used to replace water and sewer lines running beneath the theatre building. The project will ensure historic restoration of underground infrastructure from the building to the street.
Keystone Historic Preservation Grants provide funding to support projects that identify, preserve, promote, and protect historic and archaeological resources in Pennsylvania for both the benefit of the public and the revitalization of communities. The Capitol Theatre was one of only 38 projects across the state to receive funding under the program, which requires matching funding from the recipient.
