Working visit of the President Vahagn Khachaturyan to Egypt

During his working visit to Egypt, President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan attended the solemn opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

The event was attended by delegations from about 80 countries across all continents, more than a dozen kings and crown princes, presidents from around twenty countries, as well as heads of government and other high-ranking guests.

During his working visit to Cairo, the capital of Egypt, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with the newly elected Director-General UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany.

At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated the newly elected Director-General on assuming his high and responsible office and expressed hope that cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO would continue to strengthen.

"We attach particular importance to our cooperation with UNESCO, which is also conditioned by the issues of preservation and protection of Armenian cultural and historical heritage. I would also like to assure You that Armenia is ready to support Your initiatives aimed at strengthening and expanding UNESCO's activities," the President noted.

Khaled El-Enany expressed his gratitude for the reception, noting that he had visited Armenia three times and had warm impressions of the country. He also expressed confidence that active cooperation would continue.

During the meeting, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of preserving humanity's historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage and passing it on to future generations. In this context, both sides agreed that culture and education play a key role in the development of societies and in strengthening mutual understanding and solidarity among peoples.

It was highlighted during the conversation that through education and culture, it is possible to foster an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect, which in turn serves as a foundation for establishing a culture of peace.

The meeting also underscored that initiatives implemented under UNESCO's auspices play a major role in promoting global peace and preserving human values, and Armenia stands ready to contribute to this process.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides agreed to continue active dialogue and cooperation with the goal of deepening Armenia-UNESCO relations in the fields of education, science, and culture.

Within the framework of his working visit to Cairo, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan visited the Embassy of Armenia in Egypt, where he met with representatives of the Egyptian-Armenian community.

In his remarks, the President touched upon current developments in Armenia's social and political life and presented details about the reforms and new programs being implemented by the government in the defense, healthcare, education, and social sectors.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic answered questions raised by members of the community, which concerned Armenia's internal and foreign policy priorities.
