Did you know that you can get money back on your sewer, stormwater, and water bill for making water-efficient upgrades? The Portland Water Bureau offers rebates on water-efficient toilets and irrigation equipment, as well as on commercial air-cooled ice machines.

Rebates for upgrades, inside and out
We offer rebates on WaterSense-labeled toilets, irrigation controllers, and multistream rotator sprinkler nozzles.Toilets are typically the biggest water users in a home, and older toilets can use up to four times more water per flush than more efficient models! If it's time to replace yours, choose an efficient WaterSense-labeled model, recycle your older toilet, and apply for a rebate.
If you water outdoors and are considering installing or upgrading an automatic irrigation system, we've got rebates for that as well. Save on WaterSense-labeled, weather-based irrigation controllers and multistream rotating sprinkler nozzles.
What is a multistream rotator nozzle?
A multistream rotator sprinkler nozzleGlad you asked! Multistream rotator nozzles are sprinkler heads that apply water more slowly and evenly than conventional sprinklers. This results in more efficient and effective irrigation and less water loss due to wind, evaporation, and runoff. These sprinkler heads are great for slopes and clay-like soils because they allow water to soak into the landscape instead of running off and being wasted.

Simple steps for big rewards
- Select an eligible product. To find approved toilets and irrigation controllers use the WaterSense product search. Approved multistream rotator nozzles can be found here.
- Buy what you need and save your receipts.
- For toilet rebates, you must recycle the old toilet and save your recycling receipt. If your plumber or installer is recycling your old toilet for you, be sure to have them make a note on your invoice.

Complete an online application for a toilet rebateor irrigation rebateand upload your receipts. If you have any trouble attaching your receipts to the online form, you can email your receipts to [email protected]after you submit your completed application.

Receive up to $3,000 on a new air-cooled ice machine
Does your business use a water-cooled ice machine? If so, we offer a rebate that pays 50 percent of the cost (up to $3,000) for replacing a water-cooled ice machine with a new, approved ENERGY STAR® certified air-cooled model.
Save water and money with an air-cooled ice machine
We offer rebates for ENERGY STAR® certified air-cooled ice machines.Air-cooled ice machines can reduce water consumption by as much as 85 percent when compared to water-cooled models. Switching to an air-cooled model can lead to noticeable savings on water and sewer costs.
For example, a water-cooled ice machine that has a maximum harvest rate of 800 pounds of ice per day can use between 500 to 1,200 gallons of water per day just for the cooling water. You could save $10 to $25 per day by switching to an air-cooled model.
You could also save energy, depending on the age and efficiency of the water-cooled machine being replaced.
Can I still make the same kind of ice?
Yes! Round or crushed, big or small-switching your machine doesn't have to mean changing your ice product. You can find a large variety of ENERGY STAR® certified air-cooled ice machines on the market. Find one that works for you.
