Sean Giancola to Step Down as Publisher & CEO of New York Post Media Group
New York (October 6, 2026) - After more than a decade of transformative leadership at New York Post Media Group-including seven years as Publisher and Chief Executive Officer-Sean Giancola has announced he is stepping down from the company. A search for a new CEO is underway, and Sean has agreed to remain with the Post through early next year to ensure a smooth transition.
The Post has thrived under Sean's leadership. Sean returned the group to profitability after years of losses, oversaw the transition to a digital-first approach and drove a brand renaissance that has seen the Post grow well-beyond its New York tabloid roots. That evolution enabled the Post to bring its unique voice to new markets, and Sean led the successful expansion to the West Coast with the launch of The California Post, which in less than a year has become a meaningful part of the state's media ecosystem. As part of that expansion, Sean oversaw the launch of Page Six Hollywood, which is now a must-read in the entertainment industry.
"Sean has been a savvy steward of the Post during a period of profound media upheaval, and his transformative leadership helped the Post turn profitable for the first time in decades," said Robert Thomson, Chief Executive of News Corp. "His passion and his integrity have been vital ingredients in the Post's sterling success, and his positive impact will resonate for many years to come."
"Sean has been a tenacious leader and trusted partner in growing the New York Post Media Group," said Lachlan Murdoch, Chair of News Corp. "Sean's vision and commercial capabilities leave behind a stronger, more agile media group that is fully equipped to thrive in a digital-first era. I thank Sean for his relentless dedication and wish him every success in his next chapter."
"The New York Post's fearless, common-sense journalism has never played a more crucial role in society, and Sean has been an exceptional leader for this cherished publication through a critical period of digital growth," said Rupert Murdoch, Chairman Emeritus of News Corp. "His leadership and commitment to our readers leaves a lasting mark on the brand, and I am grateful for his years of dedicated service."
"Leading the New York Post Media Group has been an immense privilege," said Mr. Giancola. "I am incredibly proud of the work that's been accomplished over the last seven-and-a-half years, from expanding our iconic brand into a truly national publication, to innovating across digital platforms and to bringing the Post's world-class reporting to more readers than ever before. My heartfelt thanks go to Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch, and to Robert Thomson for their support, and I look forward to watching the Post continue to thrive well into the future."
Mr. Giancola spent more than 10 years at the Post, joining in 2015 as Chief Revenue Officer. Before that he served as Vice President of National Sales at AOL Advertising and held senior advertising roles and marketing positions at American Express and Time Inc.
