On Thursday, February 4, 2026 Cambridge Police arrested Patrick McGowan, 28, of Cambridge, and Christian Fauntleroy, 29, of Dorchester on charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. While on patrol near Central Sq., officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle operated by Fauntleroy with McGowan as a passenger for an observed traffic infraction. Due to several safety violations uncovered during the stop, officers made the decision to tow the vehicle. While conducting a required vehicle inventory prior to the tow, two handguns and multiple rounds of ammunition were uncovered in an area of the vehicle that was accessible to both individuals. Neither McGowan nor Fauntleroy have a License to Carry (LTC) or Firearm Identification Card (FID) making their possession of these items a crime. Further investigation determined that one of the firearms had been reported stolen out of state, while the other did not have a serial number. Both McGowan and Fauntleroy have been arraigned in Cambridge District Court, their cases will now be prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.
