Treated wastewater that was not dechlorinated enters the Columbia Slough outside the City’s primary wastewater treatment plant

On Friday, December 19, a leak near a pump station at the Columbia Boulevard Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Portland was observed to be leaking wastewater to the Columbia Slough.

The leaking wastewater is treated effluent leaving the treatment plant before the final dechlorination step.

Crews are investigating potential impacts. At this time, no public precautions are needed.
