Lake Alert for Lake Dupont

The city of Deltona has issued a Lake Alert for Lake Dupont following a sanitary sewer overflow.

The water quality warning stems from an incident that occurred on September 25th at Elkcam Blvd and Van Orman Dr.

Approximately 2,375 Gallons of untreated wastewater entered the lake due to a break from a contractor performing underground fiber installation in the area. As a precaution, the city of Deltona advises residents to cease all water contact activities with Lake DuPont until further notice.

City personnel will place warning signs in the area around the lake and will begin routine water sampling to test E. coli levels. Once the laboratory testing has determined that the area is safe to resume water contact activities, public notification will be sent and the notification signs will be removed.
