HESPERIA, Calif. - Two local schools recently demonstrated their compassion for animals in need by donating proceeds from student-led fundraisers to the Hesperia Animal Shelter.
Recently, the Hesperia City Council had the opportunity to recognize the students of the Hesperia High School Career Technical Education (CTE) Advanced Business class. The class, comprised of juniors and seniors, organized a charity bowling tournament as part of their hands-on learning experience. From marketing to planning meetings, students led every aspect of the event, raising an impressive $2,000 for the Shelter.
Carmel Elementary School students showed a similar initiative, raising $500 by selling candy grams to their peers on campus. The students chose to donate the funds to the Hesperia Animal Shelter, demonstrating their commitment to supporting animals in the community.
"These students are not only learning important life and leadership skills but also choosing to use those skills to help others-including our four-legged residents," said Hesperia Mayor Allison Lee. "Their actions are a meaningful contribution to our community."
The City of Hesperia thanks the students, staff, and families at Hesperia High School and Carmel Elementary for their generosity and commitment to giving back. Donations like these help support the care and well-being of animals at the Hesperia Animal Shelter.
