Visit by Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim to Batam, Indonesia, 3 to 4 September 2026

Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim is on a working visit to Batam, Riau Islands (KEPRI) Province, Indonesia, from 3 to 4 September 2026.

During the visit, Minister of State Zhulkarnain was hosted to lunch by Batam Mayor and BP Batam Chairman Amsakar Achmad.

Minister of State Zhulkarnain engaged Batam business personalities, as well as students and faculty at Batam Tourism Polytechnic. Minister of State Zhulkarnain also visited several industrial parks and was the Guest-of-Honour at the Singapore National Day Reception hosted by the Singapore Consulate-General in Batam on 3 September 2026. At the Reception, Minister of State Zhulkarnain met KEPRI Vice Governor Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, Batam Vice Mayor and BP Batam Vice Chairperson Li Claudia Chandra, and Karimun Regent Iskandarsyah.

During his engagements, Minister of State Zhulkarnain reaffirmed the robust relationship between Singapore and KEPRI, underpinned by mutual trust and understanding, longstanding people-to-people connections, and deep economic complementarities. Both sides looked forward to further strengthening links in business, tourism, human capital development, as well as the digital and renewable energy sectors.

Minister of State Zhulkarnain returns to Singapore today.
