Mayor Bass Secures Additional $1 Million Commitment from Airbnb.org to Provide Free Emergency Housing for Families Near Lineage Warehouse

LOS ANGELES - Mayor Karen Bass today announced that her office has secured an additional commitment of $1 million from Airbnb.org to provide emergency housing for city and county residents in the immediate area surrounding the Lineage warehouse. This commitment is on top of the $600,000 of housing support already provided to those affected. The non-profit 211 LA will identify eligible city and county residents living near the warehouse and assist in booking stays through Airbnb.org.

"I've gone door to door in this neighborhood and met with the families living near the Lineage warehouse - they are suffering and many have expressed their desire to be relocated during the waste removal process. This is an important step in that direction," said Mayor Bass. "I want to thank Airbnb.org and 211 LA for working with us to support this community. I will always stand with the people of Boyle Heights and East LA, marshaling every resource available to ensure this community has the support they need to recover."

"When the Boyle Heights fire reignited on June 19, 2026, 211 LA responded the same way we did during the 2025 LA wildfires - immediately. Within hours, we connected displaced residents with our Airbnb.org partners. Within five days, 892 people and 178 pets had emergency housing," said Maribel Marin, Executive Director of 211 LA. "We bring experience, trusted partnerships, and a pledge to meet residents where they are. From our helpline to our teams working directly in Boyle Heights, we are actively helping affected households navigate emergency housing and other resources. Airbnb.org's additional commitment allows us to mobilize quickly and carry on this work to make sure displaced residents get timely, caring support throughout the cleanup process."

To date, Airbnb.org has provided more than 1,000 nights of free, emergency housing to Boyle Heights and East LA residents since the start of the Lineage warehouse fire. Eligible residents will be provided with an Airbnb stay that meets their needs, including staying near their workplace, school, family or support networks. 211 LA will help identify eligible residents and assist in booking stays through Airbnb.org on their behalf.

Boyle Heights and East L.A. residents in the impacted area can dial 626-406-2786 to get help navigating available resources, including Airbnb.org housing support. This resource is available to families in close proximity to the warehouse. A map of the eligible area is below:
