HONOLULU, March 21, 2026 - Hawaiian Electric has restored electricity to about 2,200 customers in the Waimea and Kuilima/Turtle Bay areas on the North Shore of Oahu. These areas lost power after Hawaiian Electric de-energized its Waialua substation yesterday for the safety of those in the flood zone.

Once crews were able to confirm this afternoon that the substation was cleared of any floodwater, debris or damage, and that power lines feeding out of the Waialua Substation were not damaged, electricity was restored to customers outside the flood zone. Crews are now working to restore roughly 900 customers in the Kawailoa area who are powered by the same substation and are also outside of the flood zone.
