Cary Outlines Closures and Operations for New Year’s Day

  • Cary Town Hall and most staffed facilities will be closed on Thursday, January 1, for New Year's Day.
  • Cary's curbside collection Thursday route will move to Friday, January 2. The Citizen's Convenience Center will be closed on January 1.
  • GoCary will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year's Day. Door-to-door service will be available for Tier 1 only.

Cary, NC - Cary Town Hall and most staffed facilities, including community centers, recreation facilities, and cultural arts facilities, will close on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year's Day. Cary curbside collection will remain normal for Monday through Wednesday routes during the week of New Year's Day. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, January 2. The Citizen's Convenience Center will be closed on New Year's Day. GoCary will operate on a Sunday schedule on New Year's Day. Door-to-door service will be available for Tier 1 only. Cary 311 will be closed for calls on New Year's Day; citizens can log requests at any time at carync.gov/311.

Downtown Cary Park will remain open daily throughout the holiday. However, Downtown Cary Park Guest Services, Market 317, and the Bark Bar will be closed on New Year's Day. Guest Services will also close early at 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Outdoor courts across Cary will remain open on New Year's Day. The Cary Tennis Park Clubhouse will be closed on New Year's Day. Visitors can view the full holiday schedule at carync.gov/tennis.
Citizens and visitors still have time to enjoy downtown Cary's holiday lights and decorations, which will remain on display through January 5. Parking options are available at carync.gov/parking, and a complete map of decorations and displays can be found at carync.gov/holidays. The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival at Koka Booth Amphitheatre continues nightly now through January 11. Tickets and event details are available at boothamphitheatre.com.
