Tech Leaders Name Orrick Top 5 for Client Service

A survey of the General Counsel at the world's 20 biggest tech companies by Legal 500 identifies Orrick among the top 5 firms for client service.

"We are grateful to our clients for this recognition," noted Orrick Chair Mitch Zuklie. "Partnering with in-house teams to deliver excellence to leading tech companies across transactional, litigation and regulatory disciplines is absolutely core to what we do. And at this moment of convergence of tech and AI with sectors such as finance, energy and life sciences, we believe our focus on excellence in tech makes us better at everything we do."

In an interview with Legal Business, Matthew Gemello talked about the firm's approach to partnering with tech clients and what makes them different. As Matthew put it:

  • "Tech innovators move at hyper-speed, and they need to see around corners - more so than most traditional businesses, as innovation frequently outpaces regulation."
  • "There is a real focus on commerciality. We strive to get to the business answer, risk-adjusted for a client's particular business, as efficiently as we possibly can."
  • "Tech clients prioritize tech adoption more than traditional industries because it is their core business and it is part of their DNA. Clients are looking for advisers who really speak the language, understand how products work, but also understand the business drivers. AI literacy is table stakes in tomorrow's law firm."
