Benninghoff Appointed to Position on Key State Transportation Board

June 11, 2026

HARRISBURG - State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) has been chosen to serve as a member of the Public-Private Partnership (P3) Transportation Board.

"It is an honor to be asked to serve on the board, which faces the challenging task of augmenting existing transportation funding by enlisting the help of the private sector," said Benninghoff, who serves as the House Transportation Committee's Republican chairman. "The issue of paying for our transportation needs is one I've already spent a great time dealing with as we attempt to solve Pennsylvania's mass transit funding problem."

Duties of the P3 Board include reviewing both solicited and unsolicited proposals to determine if transferring project risks (like design and construction) to the private sector is more cost-effective than traditional public funding. Board members evaluate agreements between public agencies and private entities to design, build, finance, operate and maintain critical infrastructure like highways, bridges and transit systems.

"This week ironically began with unanimous passage of House Bill 2469, which would allow all 67 counties and the cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to use P3s to address transportation infrastructure problems," Benninghoff added. "I'm hoping the Senate acts quickly on this vital piece of legislation that would empower local government officials with the ability to quickly find solutions to their transportation needs."

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Benninghoff's Bellefonte district office at 814-355-1300 or his Reedsville office at 717-667-1175.
