At about 9:20 p.m. on Feb. 7, Columbia Police responded to a shots fired call in the 700 block of North Garth Avenue.
Police officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries sustained in the shooting.
Columbia Police took a person of interest into custody, and there is no threat to the community. The public is asked to avoid the 700 block of North Garth Avenue while Columbia Police investigate the crime scene.
Columbia Police were assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Columbia Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services.
