Linn County residents and stakeholders are invited to attend Linn County's public budget forum Monday, December 1, 2025, at 5 p.m. to share their input with the Board of Supervisors on the next Linn County budget. The public forum for fiscal year 2027 budget, which runs July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, will take place at the Linn County Public Service Center at 935 2nd St. SW in Cedar Rapids.
This public forum is an opportunity for residents to learn about and provide input on the fiscal initiatives and budget priorities of Linn County. All residents are encouraged to attend and take an active role in the discussion. County staff will provide general information on the budget process at the public forum and attendees can share their thoughts on what programs and services they would like Linn County to fund.
Staff will review the public input and use it to assist in the development of a recommended fiscal year 2027 budget to be presented to the Linn County Board of Supervisors in February 2026. The Board of Supervisors will then consider the recommended budget. The Board of Supervisors will adopt the FY27 budget on April 22, 2026.
Linn County holds more than 20 public budget meetings annually as part of its budget planning process. The public can provide input at any of these public meetings; however, the public forum on November 24 is the best opportunity to provide input because it is the beginning of the budget planning process. All Linn County Board of Supervisors meetings, including the public forum, are streamed live and archived on the County's website.
As in past years, the Board of Supervisors has established the FY27 budget guideline of no increases in operational line items other than unavoidable contractual or utility increases.
Linn County uses OpenGov, an online budget dashboard that gives residents an easy way to see how their tax dollars are used to fund County programs, services, and projects. Residents can view Linn County's current FY26 budget online.
