Fast facts:
DETROIT, Mich. - Crews have started utility relocation work on southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) bridge over Dequindre Cut. Until mid-May, two right lanes of southbound M-3 will be closed from St. Aubin Street to the Gratiot Connector. Currently, utilities are located within the existing structure and must be moved prior to any future demolition work. The eventual removal and replacement project is currently in design.
During the initial stage of the relocation work, the Dequindre Cut will remain open and access to Eastern Market will be maintained. Work will be suspended and all lanes will open by 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, for Flower Day activities at Eastern Market Sunday, May 17.
