WASHINGTON-Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) Chairman Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) today announced a roundtable titled "The IRS Under Audit: A Review of Operations at the Nation's Tax Collector." During the roundtable, members will examine the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) long-standing struggles to timely perform fundamental operations, such as processing returns, issuing refunds, and responding to inquiries. These problems plaguing the agency create costs and frustration for American taxpayers. Members will also explore ways Congress can help the IRS modernize.
"American taxpayers have long endured outdated and inefficient IRS operations. While the Biden Administration focused on hiring more auditors, the IRS fell behind other agencies in modernizing technology, improving operations, and protecting Americans data. I am ready and willing to partner with new IRS administrators to help the agency fulfill its core mission more effectively, and to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse within the agency." said Subcommittee Chairman Burchett.
