Metro seeks customers to appear in upcoming public awareness campaign

For immediate release: April 8, 2026

Calling all customers! Do you love riding Metro? You could be selected to be a part of the new Metro Wall of Fame public awareness campaign.

Metro is seeking current customers ages 18 and older to share their stories about riding America's Metro System across social media, digital platforms, and outdoor advertising.

"Metro is nothing without our customers," said Metro's Chief Customer Officer Sarah Meyer. "Our Wall of Fame campaign will shine a spotlight on the people who rely on Metro Bus, Rail, and Access every day and help make our system an essential part of life in the DMV."

Those interested in participating should email [email protected] with their name and age, a recent photo (cell phone photos are acceptable), and a short video introducing yourself. Please also include a short note about your experience riding Metro, what lines you ride, and the neighborhoods you live in or visit frequently. All submissions should be sent by Friday, April 17.

No acting or modeling experience is required, however, participants should be comfortable with being filmed or photographed and available in late April or early May during the day for a photo shoot at a location in the DMV. A specific date will be shared with selected participants.

About Metro
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), known as Metro, is the region's leading public transportation provider, serving a population of approximately four million people across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia within a 2,054-square-mile jurisdiction. With a network of six rail lines, 98 stations, 126 bus routes, and a door-to-door paratransit service, Metro is the second busiest transit system in the United States serving 268.9 million trips in 2025 with a $5 billion operating and capital budget. Since 2022, Metro has completed multiple transit-oriented development projects that have brought $15 million in tax revenue to the region from housing, office, and retail space in our community. Safety and security are core values at Metro. Over 30,000 cameras monitor the system, and Metro currently has the lowest crime rate in history with fare evasion on rail and bus declining. In 2025, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) named Metro the Transit Agency of the Year in recognition of industry-leading ridership growth, record high customer satisfaction, a newly redesigned Bus network, expanded rail service, and improved customer experience.
