(Washington, D.C.) - This week, U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-MO) was elected to serve as the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance. Congressman Cleaver previously served as Chairman of the Subcommittee in the 117th Congress and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee in the 118th Congress.
"I am honored to once again receive the confidence of my Democratic colleagues in leading the Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance," said Congressman Cleaver. "Ensuring that American families have access to affordable housing and insurance is of national importance. As the leading Democrat on the Subcommittee, I will defend funding and authorizations for federal housing programs and continue to push bipartisan solutions that will lower housing costs for American families of every background and from every zip code."
Congressman Cleaver has served on the House Committee on Financial Services since 2005. The Committee oversees all components of the nation's financial services sectors including housing, insurance, capital markets, financial institutions, monetary policy, national security, illicit finance, international financial institutions, digital assets, financial technology, and artificial intelligence. Cleaver will also serve on the House Committee on Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets for the 119th Congress.
Emanuel Cleaver, II is the U.S. Representative for Missouri's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Kansas City, Independence, Lee's Summit, Raytown, Grandview, Sugar Creek, Greenwood, Blue Springs, North Kansas City, Gladstone, and Claycomo. He is a member of the exclusive House Financial Services Committee and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance.
