Author Harlan Coben to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, August 5^th, 2026

Livingston, NJ - July 29^th, 2026 -Barnes & Noble is pleased to announce the opening of its new Livingston, NJ bookstore on Wednesday, August 5^th.

The store is a relocation of the Livingston Mall location, which closed two weeks ago in the face of an aging complex that is slated for redevelopment. The new store in Livingston Shopping Center is just under two miles from the store's old home. This is the first Barnes & Noble Grand Opening in the Northern New Jersey area for the year, with an additional opening planned in Wayne in the coming months.

The new store will offer over 25,000 square feet of books, toys, games, magazines, gift items, a Barnes & Noble Café, and more. The Livingston Shopping Center location (530 W Mt Pleasant Ave Unit A, Livingston, NJ 07039) is in the former buybuy BABY space, next to World Market.

Barnes & Noble Livingston will officially open to the public at 9AM eastern on Wednesday the 5^th, with local author Harlan Coben cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his acclaimed book, I Will Find You. Costume character The Cat in the Hat will also join the festivities, participating in meet & greets with customers and a special storytime over the weekend.

The Livingston store is one of two Barnes & Noble locations to open on August 5^th, joining another in Commack, NY. The design of both stores showcases the ambition of Barnes & Noble to create exceptional local bookstores that marry the best traditions of independent bookselling with the resources of the historic chain.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between August 5^th and August 9^th in the Livingston store. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.

Everyone who visits the new Livingston Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, such as $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. Barnes & Noble now boasts well over 700 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023.
