WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation is holding a hearing to consider the nomination of Sean Duffy, former Foxco-host and Republican lawmaker from Wisconsin, reality TV participant, and climate change denier, to run the Department of Transportation.

Duffy earned a 2 percent lifetime scoreon the League of Conservation Voters' environmental scorecard for his time served in Congress. He has no particular qualifications to run a government agency focused on transportation issues.

While a FoxHost, Duffy used his position to attack the Biden Administration's efforts to expand Americans' access to clean vehicles through the finalized Environmental Protection Agency standards that will cut pollution, save families money on fuel, and clean up our air. He has also falsely blamedDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives for airline incidents, insinuating that a diverse workforce is the cause of airline safety issues.

In response, Katherine García, Sierra Club director of the Clean Transportation for All campaign, released the following statement:

"Sean Duffy holds dangerous and misinformed beliefs about everything from climate change to the diverse makeup of the transportation workforce, making him wholly unqualified to run DOT. We need a Secretary of Transportation that understands the reality that transportation is the leading source of climate emissions and is committed to clean transportation solutions that will help protect our communities. Sean Duffy has no business running DOT and we urge the Senate to reject him."
