UA Creates School of Leadership and Policy
The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees has approved the creation of The University of Alabama School of Leadership and Policy, building on the Capstone's storied history of educating effective civic leaders and policymakers who have shaped the state of Alabama and the nation.
Why This Matters: The School will provide interdisciplinary, practice-oriented education that prepares students of all backgrounds to become effective leaders, policymakers and public servants who will contribute to Alabama's and the country's social, economic and civic well-being starting fall 2027.

UA Set for Homecoming Week
UA will host a week of homecoming festivities, ending with the Crimson Tide taking on the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m. Events include the annual parade, pep rally, Paint the Town Red and much more.
Two Faculty Members Honored with NSF CAREER Awards
Dr. James Harris and Dr. Igor Fedin have received the National Science Foundation's most prestigious early-career award for the 2025 academic year.

Selma Resilience Initiative Benefits Black Belt
The Selma Resilience Initiative is a community-driven learning initiative housed in the Culverhouse College of Business and serves Selma and the surrounding Black Belt region through working collaboratively with students and faculty across the University on service projects to benefit Selma.

Six Inducted to Nursing Hall of Fame
Six distinguished individuals in health care are part of the 2025 class that will be inducted into the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame, presented by the Alabama Nurses Foundation, Nov. 13 at the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa. The event will be hosted by the UA Capstone College of Nursing.
Why This Matters: Established by the Capstone College of Nursing's Board of Visitors in March 2001, the Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame was created to honor nurses and others who, through their work and accomplishments, have brought honor and fame to the profession of nursing and the state of Alabama.

Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute Hosts Demo Day
The Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute will host its annual Demo Day Nov. 20 at The EDGE.
Why This Matters: Attendees will be able to network with local startups and learn about companies based in West Alabama. Student and community entrepreneurs will showcase their businesses and hold workshops during the free all-day come-and-go event.
