Even as City officials continue to engage military leaders on the topic of aircraft noise, helicopters and tilt-rotor osprey aircraft appear to deviate from approved flight routes and complaints from residents persist.
To report a perceived offense, officials from Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Naval Base Coronado urge residents to contact the bases:

During two years of collaboration, City and base leaders have met repeatedly to address community concerns while supporting requirements of the military. The dialogue continues with regular communications between City staff and military community liaison officers.

As Del Mar provides residents with information on noise reporting, the military has developed a Course Rules Handbook to ensure all pilots adhere to flight procedures that minimize community impact.
Del Mar is asking that both commands monitor adherence to the handbook and continue briefing transient crews so those units operate with the same awareness and consideration as home-based crews.
The Miramar base is located about 12 miles southeast of Del Mar. On average, the base runs 67,000 flight operations per year. It is home to 116 rotary wing or tilt-rotor aircraft and 105 fixed-wing planes.
