According to the MAPE contract with the State of Minnesota, co-payments are a defined amount for every 30-day supply. CVS Caremark has been giving preferential treatment to certain pharmacies by allowing just two co-payments for a 90-day supply if they have contract affiliations. This was not a benefit we negotiated with the pharmacy benefit managers, but a discount that CVS was providing to reduce their own costs and increase market share.
This benefited our members, but it is against the law for competitive reasons that result in steering patients to certain pharmacies. Therefore, beginning on July 1, 2026, co-pays using CVS will be charged a co-pay for every 30-day supply. A 90-day supply will charge three co-pays. Here is the full update from SEGIP.
