"It's been one month since the deadly shooting at Annunciation School, and families across our state are still begging for action," said Kathleen Anderson, co-lead and volunteer with the Minnesota chapter of Moms Demand Action. "Today, Governor Walz and DFL leaders did what leaders are supposed to do - they listened. But let's be clear: the only thing standing in the way of an assault weapons ban is Republican inaction. Republican lawmakers have a choice - they can either stand with families or stand in the way. We're done pleading. We're done waiting. And we're fed up with kissing our children goodbye at school drop-off, wondering if it'll be the last time we see them."
"What happened at Annunciation School was another reminder that me and my classmates aren't safe as long as weapons of war can be sold around the corner," said Timberlyn Mazeikis, a volunteer with University of Minnesota Students Demand Action. "Governor Walz and DFL leaders are stepping up - but Republican lawmakers are throwing their hands in the air and refusing to even come to the table. They're ignoring us while we're practicing lockdown drills and texting our parents 'I love you' just in case. We're not asking for much. We're asking to live. And if Republican leaders won't protect us, they don't deserve to represent us."
