The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was contacted regarding a missing 89-year-old man whose medical alert pendant had pinged to a location in the Fox River behind homes on Arthur Road in unincorporated Algonquin. Given the potential severity of the situation, emergency crews including fire personnel, local police, dive teams, and drone operators were immediately deployed to the scene. A coordinated and extensive search effort began, focusing on the river and surrounding areas. After approximately one hour of searching, a family member contacted fire and police dispatch to report that the man was safe and in the care of his family. According to the family, they had been boating earlier in the day when the man's medical pendant likely fell out of his pocket and into the Fox River, inadvertently triggering the emergency response."We are grateful for the positive outcome in this situation." "We treat every call of this nature with the utmost seriousness, and we appreciate the swift coordination between agencies and the family's quick follow-up that ensured the man's safety."The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District would like to thank all personnel involved for their rapid response and remind the public to ensure medical devices are securely fastened during outdoor activities.

Assistance was provided by SEECOM Dispatch, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Rescue, Barrington-Countryside Fire District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Department, McHenry and Lake County Divers and Sonar Technicians, Algonquin Police Department, and the McHenry County Sheriff's Marine Unit.
